A website platform migration caused catastrophic link integrity failure for ABB Kinderkrippen — a network of 15+ daycare centers across Switzerland. The old URL structure was replaced without any redirect mapping, leaving 783 broken internal links and causing the "Website" buttons on Google Maps to route parents directly to 404 error pages. High-value conversion pages — including Pricing and Contact — were actively blocked from Google's index by rogue development-phase noindex tags that were never removed at launch. To compound the issue, the client had lost direct access to their Google Business Profiles, removing the most obvious fix.
We conducted an emergency technical SEO audit using Google Search Console and manual site crawling to identify three root causes: missing redirect architecture, rogue noindex directives, and no GMB access for URL updates. The response was a structured three-phase sprint. Phase one targeted infrastructure: stripped the crawl blocks from all core pages, repaired all 783 broken internal links, submitted an updated sitemap to Google Search Console, and force-indexed high-priority location pages. Phase two covered on-page SEO: optimized 649 H1 tags to resolve widespread duplicate errors, and deployed custom SEO titles and meta descriptions across 640+ pages and post types. Phase three solved the GMB problem without requiring profile access: we mapped the exact broken URLs listed on Google Maps and built a permanent 301-redirect bridge inside WordPress — so every click on a broken Google Maps "Website" button silently routes users to the correct daycare location page in milliseconds.

Google Maps "Website" buttons for all daycare locations now route users correctly. 783 link errors eliminated, ending the dead-end user experience and restoring crawl health for Google bots. 640+ pages optimized with correct H1 structure and metadata.
